Today, we are being called to weave our hearts in prayer around the world.

Our world is in dire need of God’s help. Our world is sick and dying and in need of a miracle.

People, including doctors and scientists around the world, are realizing and admitting that they can do NOTHING to stop this virus.

It is bigger than us, and we cannot control it.

I heard this story . . .

An Italian doctor, in the face of the devastation in his hospital, stated, “Now, we must admit, that as human beings, we have reached our limits. We cannot do anything more.”

This doctor claimed to be an atheist, believing only in the power of science. However, he recently found himself treating a 75-year-old pastor with Coronavirus. Every day, this faithful pastor would hold hands with the other dying patients, read Bible passages, and pray with them. He comforted them with God’s words of peace, hope, and love.

As the hard and long days went by, this Italian doctor and some of his colleagues began to stop their work for awhile, sit down, and listen to this man’s words.

This believing patient just died, but his story continues. This Italian doctor is now gathering his medical colleagues for prayer every day. Together, they are admitting that they need God’s help in the face of this global crisis.

Bigger Than Us

As humans, we have reached our human limits, our human abilities. This is beyond us. This is bigger than us.

We need help. We need God!

This morning, I was reading a passage in the Bible when God’s people faced a vast army that was bigger and stronger than them. They admitted their weakness and incapability and said, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)

Just as I closed my Bible, I received an email from a friend here in Spain. It is now circulating around the world in multiple languages.

It is a call to prayer—a call to weave our hearts around the world in prayer today.

“A world day of prayer is called on Sunday, March 22, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) local time. We are asking people to pray at home from 12-1 p.m., covering the globe in prayer in 24 hours.”

Pray For . . .

—The stop of the spread of the virus.

—The recovery of those already infected.

—Peace for the families who have lost loved ones.

—Restoration of the economies of the world.

—Wisdom for the governments who have to manage the outbreak.

—Help and protection for doctors on the frontlines.

—That many will turn to God and seek His help.

Just Respond!

I like to weave my faith throughout my cultural stories, because it is an integral part of who I am. However, I am not typically this bold and direct. This morning, however, I felt strongly that I needed to use my story platform as a means to reach the world and to call us to weave our hearts in prayer.

My stories are read by people around the world, on all continents around the globe. If there is just one who reads this and responds, it will all be worth it.

If you feel a prompting in your heart right now to join the world in prayer . . . please do.

It doesn’t matter where you live in the world. It doesn’t matter what time zone you find yourself in. It doesn’t matter if it’s past 12 p.m. noon in your country. It doesn’t matter if it’s no longer March 22, 2020.

Just respond. Now. Today.

I beg you. I plead with you. Join the rest of the world today. We are weaving our hearts around the world in prayer.

Lighthouse

During our family’s time of prayer this morning, Pierre, our 7-year-old, made a lego structure that now sits in the middle of our living room. He called it, “God’s Lighthouse.”
