My dog is my only legal excuse to step foot outside my gate. He is helping me to survive lockdown in Spain! He is now taking ME on walks!
It was 8 p.m. It was if we were all saying to each other, “We will get through this. Spain will get through this. We will win this battle—together.”
This morning, I caught myself complaining. Complaining about another day stuck inside these four walls. Then, I remembered . . .
I snuck out today, longer than I should. Catch me if you can. Give me a fine if you must. I don’t care. I snuck out today.
We are trapped. We are quarantined. We are in lockdown in Spain. This is not a movie. This is our new reality. I feel claustrophobic. I feel trapped.
Our 19-year-old son sits in his dorm room in England. We sit in our home in Spain—in complete lockdown. We are separated by countries and bodies of water.
