A few months ago, I posted a story called “Oh, the Places We Will Go!’
In it, I listed the 30 countries we have already visited.
Then, I listed my top 10 “dream” places to travel. Believe me, there are many more than 10 on my list of “travel dreams”!
Here’s my “Top 10” list again (in alphabetical order).
We still dream of traveling to . . .
—Croatia
—Iceland
—India
—Israel
—Jordan
—Kenya
—Portugal
—Sweden
—Tahiti
—Thailand
And so many other foreign lands . . .
Top on our list are Israel and Jordan, but those lands will be for a later time—maybe in our 5-year life plan.
My Own “Travel Dream”
As I started filling out (for myself) the “Travel Dream” planning tool I posted last week on Facebook, I tried to think of a place where we could realistically travel in the not-so-distant future.
Immediately, one of my favorite places came to mind—Cinque Terre, Italy! My sister and I discovered this gem, in our early 20s, when we were backpacking together in Europe. That feels like an eternity ago!
We hiked between the villages and stayed in youth hostels along the way. I have never forgotten the breath-taking experience!
“Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the 5 towns, colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbors are filled with fishing boats, and trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the Liguria region’s famous sauce, pesto. The Sentiero Azzurro cliffside hiking trail links the villages and offers sweeping sea vistas.”
Google
“Cinque Terre” means “5 Lands.” Here’s an introduction to the “5 Villages” of this hidden treasure.
You may have seen pictures of Cinque Terre in travel magazines and books. It’s incredibly beautiful. If the photos in the travel magazines take your breath away, just wait until you see it, feel it, smell it, hear it, taste it!
I’ve talked about Cinque Terre for decades—since the day I first discovered it. Vincent has never been, and I dream of going to the “5 Lands” to hike with him. Now that we are back in Europe, Italy is just a “hop, skip, and a jump” around the corner.
So, Here’s My “Travel Dream.”
